CT is urging businesses across the East Midlands to regularly test their backup and disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure they are effective.
Our call follows the results of a recently-published survey of IT professionals, which found that although 88% of respondents said they were confident in their existing disaster recovery plans, only 40% said they tested them once a year, while 28% rarely or never test them.
Not having a plan in place which backs-up data and sensitive information and ensures that a business can keep running in the event of a disaster or data breach, can put a business at risk of financial costs, reputational damage and impacts on clients, customers and employees.
CT is joining forces with one of the world’s leading DR and backup solutions providers, Veeam, to host an event aimed at providing advice, guidance and support to local businesses about the steps they need to take to ensure they have a robust plan in place. It takes place at Chesterfield Football Club’s Proact Stadium, on 1 February.
Experts from Veeam will be offering tips and advice on DR and backup best practice, as well as showcasing the latest version of its ‘Availability Suite’ software, which helps firms to backup, restore and replicate their data and access their networks in the event of an emergency. The firm will also hold a prize draw to giveaway for a new drone.
Alongside the presentation from Veeam, industry experts from Dell will be giving live demonstrations of the latest devices and solutions that address real-work needs.
And the creators of email security software Roaring Penguin will be talking about email spoofing and cyber-attack prevention, as well as offering attendees the chance to win a new Fit Bit activity tracker.
Members of CT’s technical team will be on-hand to help ensure those attending have the right IT solutions in place within their organisations. There will also be a stadium tour, a pie and pea supper, and networking, giving delegates the opportunity to share their thoughts about the benefits of cloud technology with likeminded businesses.
Richard Thompson, CT’s Sales Director, said: “It’s best practice for businesses of all sizes to have a disaster recovery plan in place, which is checked regularly, to ensure they will be able to keep running in the event of an emergency.
“Veeam is an industry-leader in the provision of DR and backup solutions for SMEs, so it is a real coup to be able to welcome them to this event to share their expertise with local businesses.”
The free event runs between 3pm and 6pm. Places can be reserved online at http://event.ct.co.uk.
