Here at CT, we specialise in Cloud Solutions, and have retained our Platinum partner status in the Veeam® Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) Program for almost four years now. We also recently became accredited for the Reseller-Ready Off-Site Backup accreditation due to our rapid growth. We are immensely proud of the Cloud team, as none of this would be possible without their hard work and dedication.
Someone who has been here throughout the journey is our Head of Cloud Sales, Maxwell Slaney, who has now been with CT for six years.
In this blog we talk to Max about his time at CT and what it’s like managing the Cloud team, which is a team we are looking to expand.
Can you describe your current job role at CT?
My current role at CT is Head of Cloud Sales, I have recently been promoted to this role. The role’s main responsibilities are enabling and achieving revenue growth within the existing sales team and achieving sales targets whilst developing and training sales team members.
- Take non-sales obstacles away from the sales team to allow them to focus on helping customers.
- Developing strategies to upsell and cross sell within existing accounts
- Working closely with key vendors to improve and expand service lines and create reciprocal relationships that are successful.
- Investigate and add new cloud services to the CT portfolio whilst improving and developing existing service lines.
- Working closely with the marketing team to improve customer contacts and ultimately increase revenue for this business.
- Devising strategic business plans for the financial year.
What does your average day look like?
To be honest, every day is totally different from the last which is why I love the role (I get bored easily).
What skills are required for this job role?
I think the most important skills for this role are having the desire to succeed, sticking to a devised plan for success and being consistent.
How would you describe your career journey at CT?
Wow, I’ll have been at CT for six years in June, I started at CT as a Business Development manager then progressed to a Product Manager, then the Cloud Services Manager and now the Head of Cloud Sales. To be honest it’s been a dream job (regardless of role) since I started at CT. The culture here is amazing and I feel honoured to be a part of the CT family!
What’s the most challenging aspect of your job role?
I think the most challenging aspect of this role is probably the most challenging of any role and that’s working outside your comfort zone. Learning new ways to think, learn and succeed.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job role?
That’s easy, when my team are successful and happy, so am I.
What have you learnt during your time in the Cloud Services Team at CT?
I have learnt many things, especially from my peers, I think the most interesting thing has been how I have been able to reflect and learn more about myself, what my strengths and weaknesses are and how to improve how I work with my colleagues.
What would your advice be to people looking to join the Cloud Services Team?
My advice would be “Go for it!” we have a fantastic number of cloud services we provide to well over 800 customers nationwide and we are growing at a phenomenal rate, we have a wonderful work culture and we look after our staff.
