Last week, Team CT headed down to London for Commvault’s SHIFT 2026 event – and it did not disappoint.
As partners since 2024, we were keen not only to hear the latest developments in cloud resilience and continuous availability, but also to understand how the resilience landscape is evolving beyond technology alone.
The event certainly delivered on both fronts. We left with a clearer picture of where resilience is heading and what truly matters for organisations preparing for the unexpected.
Our key takeaways and what they mean for modern organisations 👇
1️⃣ Continuous availability isn’t a buzzword, it’s where everything’s heading
One of the clearest messages from SHIFT was that the era of “backup windows” and “scheduled recovery plans” is rapidly fading. Continuous availability is becoming the expectation, not an aspiration. SHIFT confirmed what we’ve been hearing from our customers: resilience is no longer about post‑incident recovery but about staying online and protected at all times.
2️⃣ Cloud unity: the direction of modern recovery
Commvault’s Cloud Unity platform, launched in late 2025, took centre stage at the event. Its unified approach to backup, security, identity protection and ransomware response is a clear sign of where resilience technology is heading.
What stood out most was its simplicity. When an organisation is under pressure, clarity and speed matter. Having everything in one place reduces friction and empowers teams to move faster when it counts.
3️⃣ Resilience depends on people as much as technology
Some of the most impactful insights came from outside the technical sessions. Keynotes from Oli France and Jane Frankland MBE highlighted the human factors that shape effective incident response.
Here are the points that resonated with us:
- Trust enables effective decision‑making.
When teams trust the information they share, leaders can act with confidence.
- Decision-making speed is a protective barrier.
Delays in detection or escalation narrow recovery options far faster than many organisations expect.
- False alarms are far better than missed warnings.
A culture where people feel able to escalate concerns early can significantly improve response outcomes.
- Leadership behaviour directly impacts team performance.
Calm, steady leadership enables clearer thinking and more effective response under pressure.
Looking ahead 📈
SHIFT 2026 reinforced that resilience now relies on two things: strong, unified technology and a culture that supports rapid, confident decision‑making.
As threat landscapes evolve, our commitment remains the same – to work alongside Commvault and our customers to build resilience that’s reliable today and ready for tomorrow.
